They were protesting Israel’s genocidal policies toward Palestine and Lebanon. Other people protested in front of the presidential palace. The Cyprus Peace Council organized the protests.

January 15, 2025After 15 months of U.S.-funded, vicious destruction by the Israel Occupation Forces of every city, including every hospital, school, torching tent cities and over 64,000 official deaths in Gaza, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, in consultation with representatives of the other Palestinian factions, on Jan. 15 announced that a ceasefire agreement with the Zionist state of Israel had been reached.

The following statement from Hamas was released on January 15:The ceasefire agreement is the fruit of the legendary steadfastness of our great Palestinian people and our valiant resistance in the Gaza Strip over more than 15 months. The agreement to stop the aggression on Gaza is an achievement for our people, our resistance, our nation and the free people of the world. It is a turning point in the conflict with the enemy, on the path to achieving our people’s goals of liberation and return.

According to military analysts, so far the Israeli state has failed to locate the Yemeni leaders.

Mick Kelly, representing Freedom Road Socialist Organization, gave this presentation at a webinar on the U.S. role in Syria, organized by the United National Antiwar Coalition on Dec. 28, 2024. I am not a religious person, but I do agree with the statement in the good book that says, “Woe unto those that call good evil and evil good.” The events in Syria, the collapse of its progressive government, are not something to be applauded.
