A “cosy” and “quirky” cocktail bar with “unparalleled ambiance” has been voted as the best in Essex by our readers. Every so often, we ask our readers to shout out their favourite businesses and this time it was the turn of cocktail bar enthusiasts to have their say. After a round of nominations we whittled it down to just five and we are now able to reveal the winner. The Fête Lounge in Upminster has been voted the readers’ choice as the best cocktail bar in Essex.

Chinese New Year is just a few short weeks away and here at EssexLive we are searching for for the best Chinese takeaway or restaurant in our county. The festival, also referred to as Lunar New Year, starts on the first day of the first lunar month and concludes with the Lantern Festival on the 15th day. The festival celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. This year, Wednesday, January 29, 2025, will mark in the beginning of the Year of the Snake.
