Lia Weber has accomplished quite a bit in a decade, winning TLC’s Next Great Baker competition in 2014 and opening the continually successful Made. by Lia bakery in Old Town Florissant. She’s currently writing her first full length cookbook slated for release in fall 2025. The book – which features family recipes and customer favorites – focuses on spending time in the kitchen as a family and creating memories together.

St. Louisans have been retreating to a new ice cream shop to help beat the summer heat. Sylvie Dee’s recently opened in Webster Groves and is a welcome addition along Big Bend Boulevard, which has seen an increase in foot traffic in recent years. Two couples – Rachel and Jay Closson and Gretchen and John Lewis – saw a need for an unpretentious, old-fashioned soda fountain that would give back to a community they love dearly.

During its 30-year tenure, Companion Café has become a household name in St. Louis, and judging from the quality of product, it's easy to see why. Sibling-owners Jodi and Josh Allen were raised in the food industry – their family owns Allen Foods, Inc. – and in 1993, Josh founded Companion Bread. Later, the team opened cafés which Jodi managed. Fast-forward to today, and the siblings' café just west of St. Louis City is touting a brand-new look.
