Feast Magazine expands the dialogue surrounding food and connects with a wide audience of culinary enthusiasts. The core of the Feast Magazine brand is its large-format print publication, which highlights the entire state of Missouri, placing particular emphasis on St. Louis and Kansas City, along with Eastern Kansas and Southern Illinois. Since its debut in August 2010, the magazine has distributed 140,000 copies throughout the region, with 70,000 in St. Louis, 60,000 in Kansas City, and 10,000 in places like Columbia, Jefferson City, Springfield, Rolla, and Missouri’s wine regions.

The cat’s out of the bag: Manny Negron’s speakeasy-style cocktail bar, Keep Quiet, has been drawing in curious drinkers since its March debut. Hidden away in a vine-draped outpost at the edge of Urban Chestnut Brewing Co.’s Midtown patio, the bar remains mostly concealed from view – marked only by a glowing red light that hints at what's inside. While Keep Quiet and Negron’s other bar, Little Lager in Princeton Heights, are very different spaces, Negron’s enigmatic style threads through both.

The Macklind business district is getting a new addition inside an old favorite: The Mack will be home to Big Mouth Sandwich Co. beginning Monday, May 5. The sandwich concept will be open for lunch on Mondays and Tuesdays to start, with plans to add Wednesday hours as the team gets rolling. Big Mouth currently operates out of Perennial Artisan Ales Wednesday through Sunday.

April brought green leaves and blooming flowers to St. Louis, along with a fresh wave of restaurant openings across the region. In Edwardsville, Illinois, 222 Artisan Bakery & Café unveiled its new location on St. Louis Street, while State Street on LaSalle found a new home in the riverside town of Elsah, Illinois. On South Grand in the city, the eagerly awaited Grand Bistro Vietnamese Restaurant – led by the Trinh family – opened in the former Pho Grand space. Only two closures marked the month.

An energetic new coffee shop has emerged on Cherokee Street, and it couldn’t be a better complement to the neighborhood’s creative ethos. Sarah Fisher’s Good Strangers – named for the Greek word “philoxenia,” or “love of strangers” – is a welcome addition to the area's art galleries, Latin American restaurants, buzzy bars and thrift stores. The Good Strangers menu offers a variety of coffee drinks, from Greek lattes with almond syrup and tahini lattes to café de olla.
