RICK Kelly has revealed a couple of unused liveries from Nissan’s time with Kelly Racing in Supercars. The manufacturer partnered with the family-owned and run squad to field a fleet of Altimas from the start of the Car of the Future era in 2013 until the end of 2018.

COOPER Murray will carry major backing from a pair of Western Australia-based companies for this weekend’s Supercars round in Perth. The #99 Erebus Camaro will roll out in a bold blue and black livery, with WA-owned Vibe Petroleum serving as the car’s primary partner at Wanneroo. Also rejoining the team in PowerPlay, the electric kart racing chain that backed the team on multiple occasions last year, including a full-car livery at last year’s Sandown 500.

WILL Brown insists that his upcoming NASCAR Cup Series cameo is no distraction from his day job in Supercars. The reigning series champion will make his second career Cup Series start at the Chicago street race in July, securing a drive with Kaulig Racing in its #13 Chevrolet. Brown goes to the United States with the full support of his Triple Eight Race Engineering team.

SHANE van Gisbergen has posted his best oval qualifying result of his rookie NASCAR Cup Series season at Nashville. The Kiwi will start the Cracker Barrel 400 from 23rd on the 39-car grid in the #88 Trackhouse Chevrolet, which this week carries primary backing from Red Bull. It also represents his best Cup Series qualifying result outside of road courses and superspeedway ovals, with two 17ths at Talladega last year his best qualifying efforts on ovals of any kind.

WHENEVER the word ‘parity’ pops up, the word ‘sandbagging’ usually isn’t too far behind. It’s often used as an accusation aimed at a driver, team or manufacturer, suggesting they have an unfair performance advantage that they’re trying to mask, lest it get taken away by series officials. Rarely is it admitted to – at least, not until many years after the fact!The Supercars version of the VE Commodore, when it was introduced in 2007, was a leap forward in several areas.
