Now 13-6 on the season, the Chiefs will take on eighth-seeded Monroe in Monday’s quarterfinal. Abby Ball and Natalie Haraschak each led the way for Cherokee on the scoresheet in this one. South Brunswick finished its season with an 11-9 record.

Kevin Penny pitched six innings of one-run ball, powering third-seeded South Plainfield to a 5-2 victory over sixth-seeded Cranford in NJSIAA North 2, Group 3 quarterfinal action in South Plainfield. Now 16-10 on the year, the Tigers will face Millburn in a tough semifinal clash on Tuesday. South Plainfield struck for three in the third to seize control of this one. Aiden McCarthy singled and drove in two to help spark the South Plainfield offense in this one.

Zach Fronio doubled in a pair of runs, part of a three-run third inning to propel fourth-seeded North Hunterdon to a 3-2 victory over upstart twelve seed Carteret in Annandale. Jude Henn pitched two innings of scoreless relief to close the game out for the Lions, who are now 14-1 and onto play top-seeded Colonia on Tuesday. Drexler Rodriguez had a monster day at the dish for Carteret, doubling and homering to drive in each run. The Ramblers finished their season at 10-14.

Now 22-4 after this brilliant performance, the Patriots will face Hunterdon Warren Sussex champion North Hunterdon in semifinal action on Tuesday.
