While I am a tech journalist by job title, what I really like doing is flying free with my camera when my tech spotting is all done for the day. No other race provides an opportunity to capture the pain that professional cyclists endure like Paris-Roubaix, and so, once I'd polished off my women's tech gallery and my men's tech gallery on consecutive days, I was free to roam around the centre of the velodrome to capture whatever caught my eye. Last year I took you inside the Roubaix showers.

While we didn’t get to see a World Champion go back to back at the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, Tadej Pogačar entering the fray for the Hell of the North certainly gave us some electric racing. While my colleagues have been doing a truly stellar job of keeping you abreast of all the best stories from the weekend, for my part I’ve been bombing around the pits at the start of the race to sniff out all the best tech on show.

The night is beginning to claw at the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux here in Roubaix, and while I've just finished my usual mega tech gallery from the women's Paris-Roubaix, I also managed to sneak myself into the VIP zone to take some photos of the bikes of the winner Pauline Ferrand-Prévot of Visma-Lease a Bike, as well as her podium companions. Ferrand-Prévot won with a solo blast from 18km away in her very first attempt at Hell of the North.

As I write this I am in the (new) Roubaix velodrome, which is doing a pretty convincing impression of the inside of an oven. The dust, of which there was plenty, has settled following an electric day of racing, which culminated with Pauline Ferand-Prévot (Visma-Lease a Bike) going one better than her result at the Tour of Flanders and bagging herself a giant cobblestone for what is already a very full trophy cabinet.

Paris-Roubaix is underway and I've been trawling the pits to find all the best tech and cobble modifications. Most teams do the set menu, with a starter of wider tyres, perhaps a main course of bar tape all the way to the stem, and if they're still hungry then there's always a dessert of a 1x drivetrain.
