It's only been three days since the Knicks were eliminated from the NBA playoffs by Tyrese Halliburton and the hated Indiana Pacers for the second consecutive season, but I'm already having a difficult time staying too angry about it. Sure, it was difficult to watch the Knicks, who made it deeper into the postseason than they have this century, lay an egg in game six in Indianapolis, with their stars Jalen Brunson and (especially) Karl-Anthony Towns turning in their worst games of the postseason.

Ben Stiller has been near the center of American culture for nearly 40 years, from “The Ben Stiller Show” in the early ’90s to “Reality Bites” to “Zoolander” to “Meet the Parents” to “Tropic Thunder” to his work behind the scenes of the Apple TV+ smash “Severance.” But that’s all showbiz stuff; none of us have ever really known the man himself. To see the real Ben Stiller, the human being beneath it all, you have to watch a Knicks game.

If you're a sad White Sox or Rockies fan right now, if it all seems lost and hopeless, look at the Detroit Tigers. The 2019 Tigers, just six years ago, lost 114 games. They lost 96 in 2022. They missed the playoffs every year for nearly a decade. And now? Our Power Ranking voters have them as the best team in baseball. Ahead of the Dodgers. Ahead of the Yankees. Ahead of everybody. There is always, always hope.

My novel LLOYD MCNEIL'S LAST RIDE comes out May 20, a week from today. I am very proud of it. If you have ever read anything I've written and thought it wasn't terrible, you would very much like this. I think you should buy it. This is my sales pitch. RT @NYMag: Roger Goodell has perfected the art of sucking up to President Trump, Will Leitch writes. The NFL commissioner has learned that…

For @NYMag, I wrote about how Roger Goodell has been training his entire life to be the guy standing next to Donald Trump as he bleated crazy old racist rich guy shit. https://t.co/391qo7X2N6
