    The Moody Foundation has announced a nine-figure grant to help fund the $5 billion pediatric campus being built by UT Southwestern and Children’s Health. The gift is the largest received in support of the new campus, and the new campus will be called the Moody Children’s Hospital in recognition of the foundation’s generosity. The Galveston-based Moody Foundation was founded in 1942 by William Moody Jr., a financier whose foundation has become one of the largest in the country.

    While Cook Children’s Health Plan is in legal limbo, it is pushing for the legislature to help it and other pediatric system health plans avoid a continued legal battle against the state and compete against national plans for members. In 2024, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission announced that Cook Children’s Health Plan was not among the plans that would not qualify for the state’s $116 billion Medicaid contract, meaning the plan’s 125,000 members would have to choose a national plan.

    Aurora Innovation’s driverless trucks began traversing the highways between Dallas and Houston this week, becoming the first company to operate a self-driving service with heavy-duty trucks on public roads. As of May 1, Aurora has completed 1,200 miles on Texas roads without a driver. By the end of the year, the company plans to expand its driverless service to El Paso, Texas, and Phoenix, Arizona.
