VAN, Texas — Van Mayor-Elect Ernie Burns remembers the 2015 Mother's Day tornado well. He was right in the middle of it. "It picked up our house," he said. "Flipped it when we went airborne. We had to tunnel out to get out of it." The 2015 tornado had winds topping 160 miles per hour and damaged a good portion of the city. Burns congregated with other members of the Van community on Saturday to remember the storm and the lives it impacted. Some weren't as lucky as Burns and his family.
