NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Sam Jacobs, a 2020 Nacogdoches High School graduate, just earned another diploma - this one from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He graduated from West Point on May 24 and will now commission into the military with the rank of second lieutenant, according to a news release from Nacogdoches ISD. Jacobs majored in international relations and also participated in a semester abroad program that sent him to Latvia during his time at college.

KILGORE, Texas — Raven's PlayLand, a 5,200-square-foot indoor playroom in Kilgore, has announced it will close at the end of this summer. "It's been 2.5 years since we opened and while it's been a fun and exciting journey, the time has come for me to focus the majority of my time and energy on other things," a Raven's PlayLand Facebook post signed by owner Lawayna Burdeshaw, said. According to the post, there will be a sale on the majority of the playroom's toys after August 31.

JASPER COUNTY, Texas — A Jasper County jailer reportedly received a minor injury when he was bitten by an inmate on Tuesday morning. The inmate who allegedly bit the jailer has been identified as 64-year-old Anthony Threatt. According to a news release, the jailer was bitten on his right arm after breaking up an argument between to inmates, one of which was Threatt.

OVERTON, Texas — The small town of Overton has around 2,000 people, and it's possible that every single resident was out to help send off the Mustangs baseball team to the state championship in Austin. This send-off looked a little different than last week's, when the team departed to go compete at the state semi-finals. A much larger group of generations of Mustangs, including both faculty and students, arrived at the school early this morning to see the guys off.
