The beginning of August 2024 saw some of the worst far-right rioting on the streets of the U.K. in decades. Following a mass stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class, which left three young girls dead and 10 wounded, a broad range of actors capitalized on the information void immediately following the attack. The dissemination of falsehoods led to violence targeting minority communities and mass disorder on the streets.

The Taliban unquestionably have drastically reduced opium poppy cultivation during the 2022-2023 growing season, roughly duplicating the percentage reduction they achieved in 2000-2001 when they were previously in power. This year’s poppy harvest is orders of magnitude smaller than last year’s and is much lower than in any year since the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) started producing estimates in 1994, except for 2001.

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission is trying to decide whether to grant a permit to the project that would remove CO2 from ethanol plants at Aurora, Chancellor and Hudson.
