A regional passenger train has collided with a truck near Sale in eastern Victoria. About 100 passengers were evacuated from the carriage, some with minor injuries. Police will investigate the cause of the crash. Several passengers have been injured in a crash between a truck and a V/Line passenger train at Kilmany, near Sale, in Victoria's east. Police say the truck was towing an excavator when it and the train collided at 10:10am on Tuesday.

Police allege Victorian man Lawrence Gardam, 45, drove through a shopping centre at Sale on Monday. He has been charged with a range of driving offences, and did not apply for bail. Prosecutors have asked for extra time to compile the evidence hand up brief as they plan to interview more witnesses. A man who allegedly ploughed through a regional Victorian shopping centre in the middle of the after-school rush has faced court.

A man is on the run after driving through a shopping centre in Victoria's east. Emergency services were called to the Gippsland Centre on Cunninghame Street in Sale about 3:40pm on Monday. Police said a person in a red Ford Falcon ute drove through the front glass doors of the shopping centre before exiting on the other side and fleeing the scene. Crews from Ambulance Victoria and the CFA were called to assist but no-one was injured.

A bull shark has been spotted swimming in Gippsland's Mitchell River prompting authorities to urge people to stay out of the water. The freshwater river, about 270 kilometres east of Melbourne, is a popular destination for fishing and swimming, particularly in summer. The warning was first posted on the VicEmergency website at 1.40pm on Tuesday, with authorities expected to provide another update tomorrow afternoon.

The Australian Workers' Union (AWU) has called on the Victorian government to scrap its plans to lease out two popular snow resorts. Mount Baw Baw and Lake Mountain snow resorts in Victoria's north-east are once again on the market — just two years after the state took back control of operations under Alpine Resorts Victoria. AWU organiser James Newbold said the announcement had left resort workers feeling uncertain about their futures.
