Real estate economists’ outlook on the U.S. economy and real estate markets improved throughout the year as economic data remain strong and real estate values and performance seem to be nearing bottom. Survey responses indicate that a soft landing has become the consensus view. The Fall 2024 ULI Real Estate Economic Forecast, a semiannual survey of economists and analysts, marks a shift toward greater optimism for real estate performance in the near term, with recovery taking shape in 2025.

However, concerns about food safety-related incidents have been reported globally (Dharni & Sharma, 2008; Lam et al., 2013; MacLaurin et al., 2000), notably, the potential consumer exposure risks associated with the globalization of food production, trade, and tourism (Jeddi et al., 2022; Musoke et al., 2016; Nayak & Waterson, 2019).

ASIC says co-ordinated effort to reduce scam losses is needed, after it surveys anti-scam practices of 15 non-major banks. Substantial work has been afoot in the scam prevention space since April 2023 when ASIC released Report 761 “Scam prevention, detection and response by the four major banks”, with a number of initiatives implemented between then and now.

Some recent research argues that more direct approaches to real estate investing can more effectively address the characteristics, opportunities, and risks associated with the current state of commercial real estate. Recent research has found that closed end real estate funds, in aggregate, have broadly underperformed over the past two decades. In particular, Private Equity Real Estate (PERE) funds have not delivered acceptable net returns relative to alternative opportunities, risks, and fees.
