Some significant moves were made to the staff at the Mentor Fire Department which Chief Ron Zak said he is excited about. Promotional interviews were held earlier this month for the position of deputy chief, battalion chief and fire lieutenant. And now the city has announced the appointments of Deputy Chief Thomas Keidel, Battalion Chief Anthony Higginbotham, Fire Lieutenant Kevin Butsko and Fire Lieutenant Jason Benton, effective June 16.

Jason Golba, owner of J Golba Studios featuring handmade necklaces, ornaments and other items, had never done a craft fair or show before. Through good word of mouth, Golba and his wife Lisa heard about The Wildwood Arts and Wine Fest on the grounds of the Wildwood Cultural Center in Mentor and decided to give it a shot. It didn’t take long for the Parma couple to be impressed with the setting and the steady of stream of people the event attracts.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Crane’s Landing townhouses in Mentor-on-the-Lake was held recently at the corner of Andrews Road and Lakeshore Boulevard. Cranes Landing will have 30 townhomes, some of which are already built and ready for move in, while others will be under construction over the next few months. According to Adam Panasewicz, Ryan Homes vice president and division manager, the homes have sold in the upper $200,000 to lower $300,000 range.
