Myrtle Beach Police Department released dash cam footage of an April mass shooting on North Ocean Boulevard showing an 18-year-old firing a pistol four times and an officer shooting five times in response. On April 26 at 11:50 p.m., 18-year-old Jerrius Davis fired his gun on North Ocean Boulevard near 9th Avenue North. A Myrtle Beach Police officer returned fire, hitting and killing the Bennettsville teenager. Footage shows Davis bending over to reach for a gun and firing it into a crowd.

Myrtle Beach Police Department released dash cam footage of an April mass shooting on North Ocean Boulevard on around 2 p.m. on May 29. On April 26 at 11:50 p.m., 18-year-old Jerrius Davis fired his gun on North Ocean Boulevard near 9th Avenue North. A Myrtle Beach Police officer returned fire, hitting and killing the Bennettsville teenager. There were also 11 people injured, including 13-year-old Zavian Hairston and 15-year-old Serenity Chavis.

A swimmer in Sunset Beach may have been bitten by a shark Wednesday morning. The Sunset Beach Fire Department responded to a possible shark attack around 11:05 a.m. near the 31st street beach access, according to a press release. Beach Rescue personnel provided medical care to the injured swimmer who was conscious when emergency services arrived, the press release added. The injured swimmer was transported to a medical care facility for evaluation and treatment, the press release continued.

North Myrtle Beach Public Information Officer Patrick Wilkinson provided The Sun News a spreadsheet compiling the number of arrests, tickets, warnings, traffic accidents and calls for service for Memorial Day Weekend from 2014 to 2025.
