The Federal government has set up a committee of stakeholders to unravel the remote and immediate cause of Saturday's Petrol Tanker accident at Dikko Junction, Dikko-Maje Minna road, Gurara Local Government, LGA, Niger State. While the death toll yesterday rose to 86, 55 other persons were confirmed injured and 80 corpses were recovered and given mass burial at Dikko Primary Health Center premises.

No fewer than 150 people are feared dead following a boat mishap in Niger State. The tragedy occurred at the Gbajibo community of the Mokwa Local Government Area around 8:30 p.m. on Monday. The boat, reportedly carrying about 300 passengers, was returning from a Muslim festival when the incident occurred. Over 30 people have been confirmed dead following a petrol tanker explosion in Agaie Local Government Area of Niger State. The incident occurred when the tanker collided head-on with a trailer truck carrying passengers and cattle from Wudil, Kano State, en route to Lagos. Abdullahi Baba-Arab, Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), confirmed the tragic event in a statement on Sunday.

By Wole Mosadomi, Minna. Minna-The multimillion Naira Zungeru Hydro Electricity Dam in Niger state has been hit by an explosion. The Dam which is yet to be officially commissioned by the Federal government is the fourth located in the state coming after Jebba, Kainji and Shiroro. Our Correspondent reliably gathered that the explosion occurred early morning of today. The real cause of the explosion is yet unknown.
