BEIJING, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced on Wednesday that it has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the case relating to American sprinter Erriyon Knighton who was allowed to compete at Paris 2024 after being cleared over a doping case. Knighton tested positive for the banned steroid trenbolone during an out-of-competition test on March 26.

World PARIS, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Reigning Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone of the United States broke her own world record to retain the women's 400m hurdles gold at the Paris Olympic Games on Thursday. The 25-year-old clocked 50.37 seconds to beat the previous record of 50.65s set at the U.S. Olympics trials in June. It has been the sixth time for her to renew the world record since first managing the feat in 2021 with 51.90s.

PARIS, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Noah Lyles of the United States won the men's 100m gold medal at the Paris Olympics on Sunday, pipping Jamaica's Kishane Thompson in a photo finish. Lyles and Thompson both clocked 9.79 seconds in the final. Fred Kerley of the United States took the bronze medal in 9.81 seconds.

PARIS, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Olympic debutant Julien Alfred sprinted to the women's 100m top podium with a national-record time of 10.72 seconds in the Paris 2024 Games at the Stade de France on Saturday. The 23-year-old beat top-ranked Sha'Carri Richardson of the United States to the second place by 0.15 seconds, while the latter's fellow American Melissa Jefferson finished third with 0.05 seconds further back.

PARSI, August 3 (Xinhua) -- The United States renewed 4X400m mixed relay world record in the heat round of Paris Olympic Games here on Saturday. The quartet of Vernon Norwood, Shamier Little, Bryce Deadmon and Kaylyn Brown clocked three minutes, 7.41 seconds to finish atop in the first heat, beating the previous record of 3:08.80, also set by US, at the World Athletics Championships in Budapset last summer.
