AbstractCrystal phase plays a crucial role in determining the properties of two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides. Here we achieve phase-switchable preparation of 2D transition metal dichalcogenides using an electrochemical lithium-ion intercalation-based exfoliation strategy by controlling the discharge current density and cutoff voltage.

Reference DFT calculationsAn active-learning approach shown in Fig. 1a was used for reference data collection (see the supplementary information for more details). The reference data were generated using the Gaussian and plane-wave methods implemented in the CP2K Quickstep package72. The Goedecker-Teter-Hutter (GTH) pseudopotentials and TZV2P-MOLOPT-GTH basis sets were employed to simulate the core and valence electrons for the O and H atoms, respectively.
