1 INTRODUCTION Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is an increasingly serious problem as an autonomous predictor of mortality in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) (Cozzolino et al., 2018; Tong et al., 2016). The US Renal Data System 2021 revealed that the prevalence of CVD in patients receiving MHD was 77.3%, with over half of known deaths being related to CVD (Johansen et al., 2022).
