AbstractShrinking the size of photoelectrodes into the nanoscale will enable the precise modulation of cellular and subcellular behaviors of a single neuron and neural circuits. However, compared to photovoltaic devices, the reduced size causes the compromised efficiencies. Here, we present a highly efficient nanoelectrode based on bimetallic zinc and gold porphyrin (ZnAuPN).

AbstractMolecular imaging holds the potential for noninvasive and accurate grading of liver fibrosis. It is limited by the lack of biomarkers that strongly correlate with liver fibrosis grade. Here, we discover the grading potential of fibroblast activation protein alpha (FAPα) for liver fibrosis through transcriptional analysis and biological assays on clinical liver samples. The protein and mRNA expression of FAPα are linearly correlated with fibrosis grade (R2 = 0.89 and 0.91, respectively).

AbstractTo fulfil the demands of rapid proliferation, tumour cells undergo significant metabolic alterations. Suppression of hyperactivated metabolism has been proven to counteract tumour growth. However, whether the reactivation of downregulated metabolic pathways has therapeutic effects remains unexplored. Here we report a nutrient-based metabolic reactivation strategy for effective melanoma treatment.
