AbstractThe mechanical deformation of coals occurring extensively during the geological period (tectonically deformed coals) can directly alter their pore structures and then the storage of coalbed methane. This study in-situ investigated the effects of different mechanical deformations on the ultramicropore structure and the methane adsorption of coal molecules using molecular simulations.

AbstractAs a transdermal drug delivery method, microneedles offer minimal invasiveness, painlessness, and precise in-situ treatment. However, current microneedles rely on passive diffusion, leading to uncontrollable drug penetration. To overcome this, we developed a pneumatic microneedle patch that uses live Enterobacter aerogenes as microengines to actively control drug delivery.

AbstractTo fulfil the demands of rapid proliferation, tumour cells undergo significant metabolic alterations. Suppression of hyperactivated metabolism has been proven to counteract tumour growth. However, whether the reactivation of downregulated metabolic pathways has therapeutic effects remains unexplored. Here we report a nutrient-based metabolic reactivation strategy for effective melanoma treatment.
