1 IntroductionThe sound velocity and acoustic attenuation coefficient of seafloor sediments are crucial parameters in the fields of underwater acoustics, geo-acoustics, and sedimentary acoustics (Kim et al., 2018a; Buckingham, 2020; Yang and Jackson, 2020). They determine wave speed, acoustic impedance, path and distance of sound wave propagation. They are closely related to the sediment physical and mechanical properties, as well as to the measurement methods and environmental conditions.

1 IntroductionSonar can accurately detect fixed targets and determine target distance, it has poor concealment and limited range and is susceptible to reverberation interference. The detection signal emitted by active sonar encounters obstacles or targets in the propagation path of water, and is then affected by reflection, refraction, and scattering, resulting in signal delay and overlap.

1 IntroductionWith the rapid development of global economy and trade, maritime traffic is becoming heavier and denser, bringing a higher risk of maritime traffic accidents. Accurate and rapid maritime object detection is largely beneficial for maritime surveillance, thus effectively reducing the risk of maritime traffic accidents. Affected by maritime objects’ distance, weather, and sea conditions, traditional maritime video surveillance mainly relies on manual methods.

1 IntroductionIn a climate change context, Ice Services are facing new challenges for operational monitoring, with unusual dynamics and changes in old regimes of sea ice and icebergs. This scenario reveals the significance of having the most updated information available in operational times, in which any source is valuable, either provided by satellite imagery or, less frequently, from in situ observations.
