AbstractLiNixCoyMn1-x-yO2 (0 < x, y < 1, NCM) is the dominant positive material for the state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries. However, the sensitivity of NCM materials to moisture makes their manufacturing, storage, transportation, electrode processing and recycling complicated. Although it is recognized that protons play a critical role in their structure stability and performance, proton exchange with Li+ in NCM materials has not been well understood.

AbstractCation solvation is well understood in the bulk solution phase, but knowledge is limited regarding the electrode–electrolyte interface. The process by which cation solvation conforms to the interfacial field to form interphases remains unclear. Here we examine the synergistic effects of external and intramolecular fields on accommodating Li+ solvates to the Li-metal anode, leading to dielectric-mediated transfer dynamics on the interface.

AbstractSolid polymer electrolytes (SPEs), which are favorable to form intimate interfacial contacts with electrodes, are promising electrolyte of choice for long-cycling lithium metal batteries (LMBs). However, typical SPEs with easily oxidized oxygen-bearing polar groups exhibit narrow electrochemical stability window (ESW), making it impractical to increase specific capacity and energy density of SPE based LMBs with charging cut-off voltage of 4.5 V or higher.

With African Swine Fever virus (ASFv) concerns continuing to weigh heavily on the swine industry, at times it can be difficult to interpret and reconcile opposing research results. A recent example of this involves separate studies related to the temperature required for inactivating ASFv to prevent transmission. Time and temperature are currently the best ways to inactivate ASFv. Different methods to evaluate both time and temperature, however, can lead to different outcomes.
