Tributes have been paid to a devoted mother who ‘was one of the kindest people’ and was ‘the first on the dance floor’. Carol Jean Bailey of Altham passed away peacefully at Royal Blackburn Hospital after a sudden and short illness with her daughters at her side on April 2, aged 65. The beloved mother-of-two Carol worked at SDL Trophies and Red Rose Velvets in Accrington and Nurture Landscapes in Rishton.

Peter Chadwick opened the doors of his shop at 8 Union Street, Bacup, after leaving Bacup Market in December, along with other traders due to preparation works for the proposed £8.3m redevelopment of Bacup Market and Union Street. A funeral director has created a bereavement support group to support families who have lost a loved one. Champ Funeral Services in Clayton-le-Moors have launched the Hyndburn Bereavement Support Group. The community group meets on the second Tuesday of each month, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, at Clayton-le-Moors Community Centre and is open to everyone and free to attend. You do not need to use Champ’s services to join the group.
