Findings  In this cohort study of 91 426 participants in the Nurses’ Health Study II, a history of gestational diabetes was associated with an increased risk of mortality, particularly cardiovascular disease mortality, even in the absence of subsequent type 2 diabetes.

Abstract Heteroarenes are common moieties in pharmaceuticals and naturally bioactive compounds. Herein, we report an efficient and atom-economic rhodium and thiophenol co-catalyzed hydroheteroarylation of styrenes with heteroarenes. Alkylated unprotected heteroarenes are accessed under low catalyst loading. This protocol provides straightforward access to indoles bearing an all-carbon quaternary center at the C3-position.
