1 INTRODUCTION Sepsis, characterized by a systemic inflammatory response syndrome resulting from infection, remains a significant health concern with ICU mortality rates ranging from 6% to 30%, escalating to over 40% in patients with septic shock.1, 2 Currently, there is a lack of reliable prognostic indicators for critically ill patients with infections, leading to a dearth of targeted interventions and treatment strategies.
