BACKGROUND: Lemierre's syndrome is a fatal and rare disease that is typically characterized by oropharyngeal infection and internal jugular vein thrombosis. Timely institution of appropriate antibiotics is the standard treatment. CASE PRESENTATION: The authors report a case of Lemierre's syndrome.
