Introduction Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death for women in the United States (U.S.), resulting in one third of all female deaths—approximately 400,000 deaths per year (1). While more than 26 million adults in the U.S. have diagnosed CVD (2), the level of undiagnosed CVD is significant, with 20% of myocardial infarctions going undetected at the time of occurrence (3).
