    By Yoo Jee-ho SEOUL, June 9 (Yonhap) -- The top two clubs in the South Korean baseball standings will clash this weekend for the final time before the midseason break. The LG Twins, in first place in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) with a record of 38-25-1 (wins-losses-ties), will visit the Hanwha Eagles (37-27-0) for three games starting Friday at Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark in Daejeon, some 140 kilometers south of Seoul.

    By Yoo Jee-ho SEOUL, June 9 (Yonhap) -- Kia Tigers slugger Choi Hyoung-woo became the oldest winner of the top monthly prize in South Korean baseball Monday. The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced Choi as the winner of the Player of the Month honor for May. It was Choi's record sixth monthly award, as he broke a tie with his Tigers teammate Yang Hyeon-jong and Samsung Lions first baseman/designated hitter Park Byung-ho. Choi had last won this award for May 2017.

Kim batted 1-for-2 in a 7-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in St. Louis on Sunday (local time), and that lone hit was a two-run triple in the top of the second inning.

Some random info: Former #STLCards pitcher Kwang-Hyun Kim (aka KK, remember him??) will be the highest-paid player in the KBO in 2025. Will make roughly $2.05 million US (3 billion Korean won). Kim played for the Cards on a two-year, $8 million deal, from 2020 to 2021.
