1 INTRODUCTION Stomata are small pores surrounded by guard cells (guard cells and subsidiary cells for some species) on the epidermal surface in most plants. Stomata are primarily responsible for the exchange of gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and oxygen (O2), and water (H2O) through opening and closing, promoting the plant's continual adaptation to its environment and climate extremes (Lawson and Matthews, 2020; Li et al., 2022).

As a famous edible mushroom, Agaricus bisporus polysaccharides (ABPs) and the two purified fractions (ABP-1 and ABP-2) have been demonstrated to exhibit immunomodulatory activity in our previous study.
