DiscussionWe evaluated the use of unsupervised self-swabbing as part of a university COVID-19 testing programme to increase accessibility and to enable rapid scale up of testing. Unsupervised testing allowed us to capture a larger and more diverse proportion of the campus community in our COVID-19 testing programme, and the flexibility to accommodate increased testing volume proved critical following academic breaks and during the Omicron wave of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
