A late rally in the second half was just enough to lift Pine Lake Prep to a 2-1 victory over the Franklin Academy Patriots Pride 21-2 and the top seed out of the west. claimed their first program title in their last two trips to the finals. As for the Patriots, their undefeated championship run comes to an end 24-1.

    MATTHEWS — The Mountain Island Charter Raptors won the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A girls' soccer championship on Saturday at the Mecklenburg County SportsPlex. The Raptors, who have been knocking on the door and in their debut claimed their first ever state championship with a 5-0 win. Mountain Island Charter, who was the 2nd seed in the west, completes their state championship season with a 20-5 record.
