Few defenders in high school football history have matched the production of Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) linebacker Tyler Atkinson. The five-star senior as one of the most feared defenders in the country after a record-setting three-year stretch. Atkinson was named the MaxPreps National Junior of the Year in 2024 after posting 166 tackles, 32 tackles for loss and 13 sacks, helping lead Grayson to its first Georgia Class 7A state championship since 2020.

Dia Bell, Faizon Brandon and Keisean Henderson were among the 20 high school quarterbacks selected to compete at the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles from June 17-19. Other notable selections include Travis Burgess, Helaman Casuga, Dereon Coleman, Landon Duckworth, Matt Ponatoski and Jonas Williams. The event features three five-star prospects and six quarterbacks are in the top 100 overall according to 247Sports. Fourteen are four-star recruits while the remaining three are three-stars.

For the third time since 2020, Texas finished with the most players selected in the NFL draft with 36. Kelvin Banks Jr., Jahdae Barron, Billy Bowman, Quinn Ewers, Matthew Golden, Ashton Jeanty, Jalen Milroe, Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward were some of the notable selections from the Lone Star State. Ward became the first No. 1 overall pick that was unrated coming out of high school. He was also the 15th player from Texas to be taken first overall.
