Pitt men’s basketball (4-0, 0-0 ACC) took on VMI (4-1, 0-0 SOCON) on Monday night at the Petersen Events Center. Sophomore guard Jaland Lowe posted a triple-double as Pitt thrashed VMI 93-48, the first time a Pitt player earned a triple-double since Bub Carrington in the 2023-2024 season opener. Junior center Cameron Corhen opened the scoring for Pitt with a put-back at the rim to gain a 2-0 lead. With 15:27 left in the first at the media timeout, Pitt led 8-0.

On Saturday night, Pitt (7-2, ACC 3-2) dropped its late-season ACC matchup at Acrisure Stadium against Virginia (5-4, ACC 3-3). The final score was 24-19 as the Panthers’ offensive and defensive units charged up and cooled down at different times. Redshirt first-year quarterback Eli Holstein threw for just 121 yards. Despite some questionable miscues and completing only 10 of 23 passes, Holstein had the Panthers leading 13-7 in the first half.

Basketball season is finally here and the Panthers start their season on Monday, November 4th against Radford at the Petersen Events Center. The Panthers are coming off a strong campaign (22-11, 12-8) in which they narrowly missed the NCAA tournament after finishing fourth in the regular season and reaching the ACC semifinals. This season, they’re looking to get back to the dance in the seventh year of the Jeff Capel era. Let’s start with what the Panthers lost.

Pitt XC posts strong showing at ACC ChampionshipsPitt cross-country traveled to Cary, North Carolina, to compete in the ACC Championships this weekend. The women’s team completed a 6k and the men’s team completed an 8k on the WakeMed Soccer Park. Both teams posted solid showings with the men coming in 13th and the women following suit in 16th out of the 17 and 18 team fields respectively. The Pitt women’s team finished with 410 points.
