I met these girls through a web of work and life. Each at different phases of a long-term documentary project I am directing that was born out of a casting trip to Columbus, Ohio, back in 2016. As a casting director it is my job to find beauty in the tiny corners of the world. I remember the first time I saw every girl in this story — Kourtnee, you and Kaylee pulled up to the parking lot. I walked up to say hello and you rolled the window down. Your beauty took my breath away.
