1. IntroductionVulnerable road user safety is a major issue within the United States. In the first half of 2023 alone, 3373 pedestrians were killed on US streets, up 19% from 2019. Furthermore, in 2022, the US reached a 40 year high of more than 7500 pedestrians [1]. Similarly, 1149 cyclists were killed on US roads in 2023, up 4% from 2022. This issue has become so dire that emergency rooms around the country have also observed an increase in crashes involving vulnerable road users [2].

Efficient manipulation of the optical response of two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors, dominated by excitons due to strong electron-hole Coulomb attraction, could give rise to both discoveries of emergent phenomena and implementation of optoelectronic devices. We propose a manipulation of the optical response of 2D semiconductors through combining magnetic proximity effects and strain, using a Janus type of monolayer (ML) transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) for numerical illustration.
