1 Introduction Inpatient depression is associated with high morbidity and risk of suicide, as well as impairment in cognitive function [1-3]. Cognitive impairment often persists after the resolution of mood symptoms [4, 5] and can cause difficulties after discharge, including in psychosocial and occupational domains [6, 7]. Readmission rates are high for those hospitalized with depression.
