    Growing up, my dad always told me, “Zoe, you came here to kick ass and chew bubblegum. And you’re all out of bubblegum.”It was a silly mantra that brought me a boost of confidence in my most unsure hours. And my first few weeks here at Quinnipiac University were certainly made up of many of them. I came to this school two years ago as a junior transfer student, not sure of anything other than a passion for writing and a deep love of pop culture and entertainment.

    Seven minutes is not a particularly long time. But for those who watch the hit television series, “Bluey,” the time span has been a familiar episode length through the show’s past three seasons. However, a special episode of “Bluey” — which follows the life of the 7-year-old Blue Heeler puppy Bluey Heeler and her little sister, Bingo, her mother, Chilli and her father, Bandit — marked a change for fans young and old of the show.

    When the trailer for “The Program: Cons, Cults, and Kidnapping” was released, my relatives, hometown friends and strangers flooded Facebook to share it. The three-episode limited series on Netflix may be another true crime docuseries for others to binge, but for me, it was personal. “The program” the film refers to is a so-called “school” for troubled teenagers that were abused and mistreated in the name of behavior modification.

    “This ain’t a Country album. This is a ‘Beyoncé’ album.”These were the words Beyoncé Knowles-Carter used in a March 19 Instagram post to describe her newest album, “Cowboy Carter,” which released March 29. After the first listen to the 27-track album, it’s clear that truer words have never been spoken. While “Cowboy Carter” is the second part of “Renaissance”’s beginnings, the album actually came to fruition after Beyoncé’s experience performing with The Chicks at the 2016 Country Music Awards.

    Quinnipiac University Student Programming Board’s annual Wake the Giant concert is back again, and this year it’s bringing students back to the early 2000s. Flo Rida has officially been announced as headliner, where he will be hitting the stage on April 14 at the M&T Bank Arena. DJ Fire will start the event as opener at 8 p.m., and then Flo Rida — known for his popular hits such as “Whistle,” “Wild Ones” and “Right Round” — will follow him.
