The elections for the Wilmette village president, Wilmette Library Board and Wilmette District 39 Board of Education are each uncontested. Senta Plunkett is seeking her second term as Wilmette’s village president. She was first elected following a contested race in 2021. Three newcomers — Jennifer Mullman, Eric Bederman and Matthew Thomas Pasko — are set to join the Wilmette Public Library Board of Trustees. The terms of Trustees Mary Anne O’Keefe, Tracy Sommer and Trish Nealon expire this year.

The Flight 5342 Memorial Skating Performance at Wilmette Ice Skating Rink honoring the victims who died in the Jan. 29 plane crash was unlike a traditional skating performance. It offered a chance for the skating community to grieve and heal together. Many who skated in the event on March 8 at Centennial Ice Rinks in Wilmette were friends of those who died in the tragedy. Some participants were even with the victims just days before their passing.

It’s taken seven years of advocating, planning and hard work, but finally The Aspire Center for Workforce Innovation expects to its doors to Austin residents in the second quarter of 2025. Located at the now closed Robert Emmet Elementary School on 5500 W. Madison St., the center will be home to four tenants: Austin Coming Together, Westside Health Authority, Jane Addams Resource Corp. and BMO Harris Bank.
