ABBOTTABAD: A man allegedly shot and killed a transgender person and injured her companion at a wedding ceremony in the limits of Mirpur police station on Friday. Following the incident, DPO Omar Tufail directed Mirpur police to take immediate action. Responding swiftly, the local police arrested the accused, Malik Tauqeer, within the next few hours and registered a case under Sections 302 and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code (FIR dated 13/06/2025), based on the statement of the injured survivor.

ABBOTTABAD: In a landmark decision, the Environmental Protection Tribunal Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has ordered an immediate stop to the operations of several stone-crushing plants in Thandiani, Abbottabad, due to environmental concerns and non-compliance with regulations. The tribunal, chaired by Malik Haroon Iqbal, heard arguments from the complainant, Barrister Hashim Iqbal Jadoon, and the accused respondents, including the owners of the crushing plants.

ABBOTTABAD: Thandiyani, Nathiagali, Donga Gali, Ayubia and other hilly areas of Abbottabad received the heaviest snowfall of the ongoing winter season in the past few days, which resulted in temperatures below freezing point. At least one to two feet snow has been reported in Thandiyani and the upper areas of Galiyat. Almost all link roads in Galiyat are closed while the main Abbottabad to Muree road was also blocked off due to heavy snowfall at different points.

ABBOTTABAD: An inquiry committee constituted by the Board of Governors (BoGs) of Ayub Medical Teaching Institute (AMTI) has uncovered widespread financial mismanagement and irregularities to the tune of Rs1.355 billion at Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH), recommending the termination of five senior officials including a former hospital director from their service and recovering Rs 208.8 million from responsible officials.
