Check out this awesome character rig created by an artist known as uni15g using Blender. The creator is practicing semi-realism on their model of a cute maid, and the results look very cool so far. The head movements were brought to life with motion capture, and the hair was created with a Path Curve and made transparent with a procedural shader. You can see how the character is coming along on uni15g's X/Twitter.

Will Gwasera showcased a fierce 3D model of a fire girl with moving flame hair that he created using Blender's toolkit. The shader work is on point in this commission, but, alas, we won't see it in Dallience Studios' YASUKE: A Lost Descendant hack-and-slash game featuring detailed face rigging, where Gwasera is a creative director. However, a water version of the hair might make it into the game eventually.

Suddenly noticed that your 3D character has some gaps in their hair? You could add some more and groom it properly, or you can follow Sun Somei's advice and simply fake it. The artist fixes baldness by using a narrow depth of field, hiding the issue in blur and low lighting in their fiery animation. The hair simulation was achieved with the HairFlow add-on for Blender, so check it out if you want to create something similar.
