American Journal of Public Health
On behalf of AJPH, the editors and Board want to express our deep sorrow and offer our sincere condolences to the victims, survivors, families, friends, and communities affected by the tragedy at the Pulse nightclub. This heartbreaking event has impacted various communities, including those who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer, as well as Latino, Immigrant, and Muslim groups, all of whom already face social and health challenges. Many of the victims were young adults from diverse economic backgrounds. We extend our sympathies to everyone affected and strongly denounce violence against individuals based on their gender identity and sexual orientation, as well as any other forms of violence tied to discrimination based on race, ethnicity, immigration status, or religion, including Islam.
