VAIL MILLS — Included in the recent inventory at Around the Block Antiques & Collectibles were some tall drinking glasses, each emblazoned with a character from the Warner Bros. animation stable. Fifty years ago, these glasses were available from Carrols and other fast-food restaurants. As Brenda Armour was talking to a visitor about business conditions, the visitor interrupted the store’s co-owner and manager to rhapsodize about those glasses.

St. Johnsville will be kicking off its inaugural September Fest this Thursday. The main attraction of the three-day fair, which is sponsored by the American Legion, will be its food, with booths selling clam chowder, sausage sandwiches, fried dough, fries and more for cheap prices. “I’m hoping that they feel like the food prices are very affordable for a family compared to most other fairs,” said Chris Arduini, one of the organizers of the festival.
