Town of Cheektowaga Councilmembers Vern Thompson and Tony Filipski, in partnership with the Town of Cheektowaga, have announced the return of the community’s longstanding holiday tradition, the 47th annual Cheektowaga Independence Day Parade. The parade is scheduled to begin at noon on Friday, July 4. It will start at the intersection of Harlem Road and Walden Avenue and proceed north to Cheektowaga Town Park.

Luke Danna’s senior year with the Orchard Park boys lacrosse team was just as successful as his junior year. Danna, who primarily played attack but sometimes dodged at midfield, led the Quakers to the Section VI Class A title while becoming the first player to repeat as All-Bee Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year since Clarence’s Josh Slowinski in 2014 and 2015.

Andrew Belica’s first year coaching lacrosse at East Aurora went smoothly. The 2025 All-Bee Boys Lacrosse Coach of the Year led the Blue Devils, with only three seniors, to a 15-4 record and appearance in the Section VI Class D final. Belica has been involved in Western New York lacrosse since graduating from Medaille College in 2013.

There is no denying the talent that fills the 2025 All-Bee Boys Lacrosse First Team. Many honorees were not only among some of Section VI’s top players but also served as team captains and helped lead their squads to successful seasons. Three selections, including Player of the Year Luke Danna of Orchard Park, earned some form of USA Lacrosse All-American distinction. The Bee also recognized a faceoff specialist for the first time as part of the First Team.

Emily Peters admits she was surprised when she found out she was named the 2025 All-Bee Girls Lacrosse Coach of the Year. She shouldn’t be. Peters, who coaches at Williamsville East, led the Lady Flames to the Conference 3 regular-season title with a 7-0 record and finished with a 14-3 overall mark, losing to Williamsville South, 21-17, in the Section VI Class C quarterfinals.
