The Flathead County Board of Adjustment has approved a new tavern for the former Stonehill Restaurant on Montana 35. The board gave its OK for the tavern on April 1 in a unanimous vote. Mark Campbell requested a conditional use permit for the tavern at 7951 Montana 35 in Bigfork. The property at roughly 1 acre is zoned B-2 General Business. “This seems pretty straight forward,” board member Roger Noble said.

According to recent National Association of Realtors Affordability Distribution Curve data, Montana is the least affordable state in the entire country for homebuyers, outpacing California and other areas well-known for housing shortages. Now, state legislators are considering SB 336, which would further exacerbate the issue.

Construction on a new fishing access site near Sportsman’s Bridge in Bigfork is expected to begin this spring. In a final decision notice issued March 13, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks approved plans to construct a boat ramp, parking lot and pit latrines at the intersection of Montana 82 and Oldenburg Road. Once complete, similar amenities on the eastern bank of the Flathead River will be demolished to make way for the reconstruction of Sportsman’s Bridge.

The logo for Zen Den Wellness Spa in Lakeside is an Enso circle, a symbol in Japanese Zen Buddhism that signifies the journey to enlightenment. For spa owner Annie Dillard it also represents the journey of health and selfcare. “This is a space that is really curated for people to feel relaxed,” Dillard said. “Self-care is so important in our busy and stressful world.” Dillard first opened Zen Den in 2021 in a smaller space above the current location at 306 Stoner Loop.
