Liutauras Vaitkevicius has left his role of managing director at The Zetter Hotels after four and a half years. The news comes amid the appointment of a new area general manager for the group, which is due to launch its third London site in Bloomsbury early next year. Sam and Georgie Pearman, former founders of The Lucky Onion group, will open The Wild Duck Inn in the Cotswolds next summer. Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa in the Lake District has added nearly 400 photovoltaic solar panels to roofs across its site as part of a major renewable energy project. The 385 solar panels have been installed on five buildings around the hotel’s grounds, with each cluster facing south or south westerly to maximise sunshine hours and light exposure. Owner English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues has invested £195,000 in the project, which is aligned with its eco-tourism and sustainability commitments.

Balmer Lawn Hotel has unveiled its New Forest spa and wellness centre to mark a new chapter for the four-star property. The new spa comprises a steam room, Finnish sauna, rainforest and monsoon showers, ice room plus six treatment rooms including a dual suite. The spa also has a dedicated new reception area and relaxation area. Each treatment uses ESPA products that focus on the ‘healing power of nature to restore harmony to body and mind’.
