CBC News Network

CBC News Network

CBC News Network, previously known as CBC Newsworld, is a Canadian specialty news channel that broadcasts in English and is owned by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). It reaches more than 10 million households across Canada. As the first all-news channel in Canada, it ranks as the third oldest of its kind globally, following CNN in the United States and Sky News in the United Kingdom. The channel's funding comes from cable subscriber fees and commercial advertisements. Unlike the main CBC television network, CBC News Network does not receive direct operational support from public funding; however, it does benefit from collaboration with other CBC services, including sharing reporters and programming with the main network. For French-speaking audiences, CBC News Network has a counterpart called Ici RDI, which is also owned by the CBC (known as Société Radio-Canada in French).
