3D artist Özgür Yildirim has released Smart Model Editor, a new plugin that lets artists model non-destructively in Maya. The add-on records the changes an artist makes to a model and displays the commands in a list in the user interface, from where they can be edited independently. According to Yildirim, users can “track and revise each stage of the 3D modeling process” making it possible to work “interactively, parametrically, and efficiently”.

Epic Games has made a set of 261 3D scanned assets for creating a derelict corridor available to download for free from Fab, its new online marketplace. Unlike Epic’s standard bi-weekly free asset releases, the assets have been created by its own Megascans team, and will be free indefinitely.
SPECviewperf 15 adds Blender and UE5 tests to the benchmark

SPEC has released SPECviewperf 15, the latest version of its 3D graphics benchmark. It’s the first update since 2022, and reflects recent changes to CG software and pipelines, adding new tests based on Blender and Unreal Engine 5, and support for the Vulkan API. One of the longest-established graphics benchmarks for workstations and GPUsOriginally developed over three decades ago, and maintained by non-profit consortium SPEC, SPECviewperf is one of the most widely used graphics benchmarks.

Stock asset provider Figment – aka VFX artist Henrik Bjerregaard Clausen – has released the UDIM Globe, a free toolkit for converting planetary textures into UDIM tiles. The set of Photoshop scripts converts satellite images of the earth or any other high-resolution planetary textures into UDIM format. The toolkit also includes three 3D models of varying resolutions that can be used as bases to which to apply the formatted textures inside 3D applications like 3ds Max, Blender and Maya.

Sapphire 2025.5 is a significant update, adding a new AI-powered masking and tracking system, new movie-style lens flare presets, and support for GPU acceleration on AMD processors. Open Brush 2.10 adds ‘multiplayer’ VR painting

Open Brush 2.10 adds a new Multiplayer mode, making it possible for users to create designs collaboratively, and support for Logitech’s MX Ink stylus. A community-run open-source successor to Google’s Tilt BrushOpen Brush is based on Tilt Brush, the room-scale 3D painting and sketching tool previously developed by Google, and open-sourced in 2021.
