The Dolls House Den, previously Sophistikuts, located at number 8 Silver Street, Ilminster, has announced its opening date will be on Friday, June 27. With renovation works ongoing since May, the newly painted green building has been filled with shelves and dolls house furniture ready for the grand opening this week. Opening hours of the business will be from 9am-4pm from Wednesday to Saturday.

According to Chief Executive and Town Clerk, David Bell at the Chard Town Council meeting on Monday, June 23, work continues with the potential to “take over” the Bath Street public toilets from the current owners and operators, which are the Somerset Council. In an update “hot off the press”, according to Mr Bell, matters are progressing in a “positive direction” despite initial potential legal and financial burden concerns raised prior.

Martock village launched its first Pride Event on Saturday, June 21, starting from midday onwards with an outdoor open-community family-friendly event at Martock Recreation Ground. This included a series of pop-up stalls including one run by the Alzheimer's Society, the Big Lottery Fund, Utility Warehouse, National Education Union, and various others run by the Martock Pride Committee themselves.

AVON and Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered facial injuries during an assault in Chard. Officers said a man is reported to have punched the victim, who is in his mid-70s, in the back of the head in an alleyway between Poundstretchers and Coral. The victim fell to the floor and suffered significant injuries to his hand, bruising to his arms, elbow and eye, and a cut eyebrow, which required medical treatment.
