City of Basketball Love
City of Basketball Love (CoBL) is a dedicated news outlet focused on all aspects of basketball within the Philadelphia area. We provide comprehensive coverage, highlighting everything from Division I athletes to emerging high school talents, particularly those who may not receive attention from larger national or regional media. As we grow, we are excited to introduce camps and clinics designed to help players gain the visibility they need to elevate their game and pursue their aspirations. Established in the summer of 2012, CoBL began as a passion project for two friends who loved basketball. It has since evolved into a vibrant organization with a team of over 30 writers, photographers, and scouts. Today, CoBL serves as a key resource for basketball enthusiasts in Philadelphia, including players, fans, coaches, and parents. To enhance our connection with the community, we started CoBL College Exposure Camps in April 2015. These events provide an opportunity for college coaches to discover up-and-coming talent. Players engage in skill development sessions with top NBA trainers, followed by competitive games coached by college staff.

By Owen McCue __ R.J. Smith remembers playing up two age groups as an 8-year-old when he first started AAU. “I was playing with the older guys, and I would get beat on, but I was still come the next day and I would still fight,” Smith recalls. “I think that's where I get some of my fire from.” Smith, a 5-foot-9 point guard, still prides himself on his toughness. When deciding on where he will play his college hoops, Smith found a coach who does the same.

Aubrie Smith (2028 | Penn Charter) The 5-foot-5 rising sophomore was fearless driving to the basket. Her low center of gravity and court vision allowed her to wend her way through the lane more than a few times, a couple of times getting three-point play chances. One she finished on an amazing spinning move, and another she missed the free throw after converting an up-and-under layup.
